Kwiatkowski Praises Family of Secrets

Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski, former NSA and Pentagon official and arch-critic of the Iraq invasion, has strongly recommended Family of Secrets. She recently discussed the book and offered her own thoughts on the Bushes in a column for LewRockwell.com:

I recently read Russ Baker’s Family of Secrets, because Lew interviewed Russ Baker and it sounded great. The book delivers, although I suspect there are a lot of Bush family secrets that remain unexposed. I am personally curious about any Bush secret recipes on the back burner back in March 1981. As history, the Wikipedia version of the Reagan assassination attempt reads like a CIA moonlighter’s script for a movie of the week.

Baker’s research led him back to the days of the JFK assassination, where HW, or “Poppy” Bush was not where he said he was, after all these years. You’ll have to read the book for a real, and real interesting, lesson in modern American democracy.

Russ’s Reporting on W.’s Intent to Invade Iraq in Spotlight

This past Tuesday, June 2, Political Affairs Magazine ran a column by Sherwood Ross on Russ’s 2004 blockbuster pre-election scoop about George W. Bush’s intent, expressed back in 1999, to invade Iraq.

Yesterday, The Raw Story’s John Byrne picked up the story. His detailed piece discusses the 2004 article as well as coverage of Family of Secrets.  Byrne’s entry immediately became a hit on Digg.

Japan Times: W. the Movie Too Sycophantic? Try Family of Secrets Instead!

Japan Times today ran a review of “W.”, the Oliver Stone movie, and gave it 3 out of 5 stars for being too mild and not revealing enough.  The reviewer, Giovanni Fazio, concludes by urging readers to follow the movie up with Russ’s very own Family of Secrets:

Much of the film appears to be based on books by Ron Suskind, Bob Woodward, Ronald Kessler, Scott McClellan and others, and that is the film’s weakest point: All this stuff has been discussed endlessly over the past few years, and “W.” contains no surprises. Viewers seeking the vast rightwing conspiracy of “JFK” — not to mention its groundbreaking stylistic construction — will be disappointed. “Family of Secrets,” by reporter Russ Baker, should satisfy that urge, with a boatload of wild allegations that come tantalizingly close to being proven.
